Key steps for simple and efficient installation of the Wavetrain OMSL (Overlay Miniature Stop Light) in the Network Rail infrastructure involves specific pre-installation activities at the level crossing. Initially, site-specific design* is conducted, followed by civil works for the location case and the setup of mains power and cabling. Poles for lights and sounders are positioned, and sensors are attached to the tracks using clamps. The sensors are spaced 5-10 meters apart on each side of the level crossing. Once the sensors are in place, the location case is installed on a pre-built foundation, with the system components connected to the mains power and respective connectors. Once power is connected, the warning time is adjusted to meet site-specific requirements, followed by system acceptance testing (SAT). The system operates autonomously but can provide automated alarms to Centrix using an MPEC logger.
* A mobile site survey kit from Wavetrain System simplifies fine tuning and commissioning on each specific site.
